Description
Nos. 42 and 43 in Milton Abbas are a pair of cottages built in the mid-19th century. They feature brick walls with contrasting colour brick dressings and tiled roofs adorned with ornamental bargeboards. Each cottage has brick end stacks with oversailing caps and is one storey high with attics. The design includes projecting gabled wings at each end, with a gable rising in the centre of the recessed section. A tiled pentice roof supported by timber bracketed posts forms a double porch in the central section. Each cottage has a ledged door with cover fillets and a cross-pattern window with glazing bars on the ground floor of the wing. In the attic, there is also a cross-pattern window with glazing bars in the wing, and a shared casement in the centre gable. All windows are set under gauged brick arches, contributing to the picturesque appearance of the cottages.
