Description

The Cottage is an 18th-century cottage with a 20th-century addition to the rear, located in Holt Heath, Lower Mannington. The building features rendered cob with brick at the front eaves and the left-hand angle. It has a thatched roof that is half hipped on the left side and gabled on the right, complete with an end stack and eyebrow dormers on the front elevation. The cottage is 1½ storeys tall and has a symmetrical design with two windows. A central timber plank porch with a slated gabled roof leads to a 20th-century door that has a central light. The ground floor windows are two-light casements with glazing bars. Inside, there is a chamfered spine beam, deep slayed reveals around the windows, and a blocked-off inglenook fireplace that rises with a wide chimney breast through the upper floor.
