Description
Appletree Cottage is an 18th-century cottage with a later addition, altered in the 20th century. It is likely constructed of cob, with a rendered exterior and a thatched roof, featuring a rendered end stack on the left. The cottage has a two-unit plan, originally with a one-unit extension, and is two storeys high with a three-window range. A 20th-century glazed door is located to the right. The ground floor has two-light casement windows in the centre and to the left, while the first floor has two-light sliding casement windows, except for a tripartite sash window on the right. The left gable is stone-coped, and the right end bay is probably a late 18th-century addition. A 1.5-storey 20th-century extension projects from this end. Inside, the cottage features wedge-stop-chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer.
