Description

The Orchards is a 17th-century cottage located in Polstead Heath. It is constructed with a timber frame and brick infilling, topped with a thatched roof. The building features a ridge stack on the left and a right end stack. There are two dormers situated on the left and in the center of the roof. The cottage has one storey and an attic, with an irregular front that includes five windows, which are fitted with various casements. The entrance is marked by a boarded door that is positioned off-center to the right. To the right of the entrance, there are a pair of buttresses topped with a flat hood, which may indicate a blocked doorway.
