Description
Nos. 176 to 188 on Church Street are a row of seven cottages, originally built in the 17th century, with most features dating from the 18th century, and some restoration in the 20th century. The cottages have rendered walls, with No. 184 showcasing an exposed timber frame from the 17th century that suggests a lower eaves height. They are topped with a thatched roof and feature eyebrows above the upper windows at the rear. The block is long and narrow, consisting of two storeys with slightly irregular window placements, offering two windows for each unit. The windows are casements, including two older upper lights. The doorways are plain, each with boarded doors. Following a fire, the row has been restored, which included merging one of the units and adding another at the north end.
