Description

Nos. 1-15 High Street is a row of seven cottages that were built during the 17th and 18th centuries, although they have been restored in the mid to late 20th century. The cottages feature timber framing that is partly exposed on the three central bays, with the remaining sections rendered. They have a long straw thatch roof topped with six grey brick ridge stacks, each with a single flue. The buildings are one storey high with an attic and include nine dormers and twelve small window openings, some of which are boarded while others have 20th-century glazing. The exposed timber framing in the front and rear walls of the three central bays shows varied scantling, indicating that the timbers have likely been reused and are probably from the late 17th century.
