Description

Holly Cottage is a house dating from the early 17th century, which was refronted in the 19th century and extended in the 20th century. It features a timber board frame with square panels at the rear infilled with painted brick, while the front is faced in painted brick with Flemish bond on the right and stretcher bond on the left. The cottage has a thatched roof with raised eaves at the front, a hipped roof on the left, and a gabled right end that includes a large brick stack with a brick shaft.

The plan consists of a two-room layout, with the left-hand room being a rebuilding or extension that includes a narrow one-room wing at the back. The exterior is one storey and an attic, with an asymmetrical three-window front. The attic windows are positioned above the wall plate in the raised eaves, and there are 20th-century two-light casements with glazing bars. The doorway is located to the left of centre and features a 20th-century plank door with a thatched porch. A sun fire insurance plaque is located under the eaves on the front. The thatched roof extends over the large brick stack on the right end.

At the rear, there are eyebrow eaves over two half dormers with 20th-century casements, and a central doorway in a chamfered frame with a cranked head. There is a small stone outshut on the left and a 20th-century brick wing on the right with a half-hipped thatched roof and an outshut on the inner left side. The interior has not been inspected.
