Description
White Mill Bridge is a bridge that crosses the River Stour, dating from the 16th century. It is constructed from ironstone and limestone and features eight round arches, with the four central arches being larger. Each arch has four ribs, with the outer ribs being chamfered. Substantial cutwaters are positioned between the arches, and the later parapet oversails the walls on rounded corbels. The moulding above the corbels is repeated around the cutwaters in a different form. The parapet includes refuges above the cutwaters and flares outwards at each end. On the north side of the bridge, attached to the parapet in the middle, is a cast iron plate that contains a notice regarding the penalties for willfully damaging the bridge.
