6/49 Merry Hill Barn with attached Shelter-Shed and Yard Walls - II

Barn, Shelter shed and yard walls. C18, restored C20. Rubble-stone walls, with stone quoins. Thatch roof, half-hipped. Porch entrance on south side with pro- jecting jambs. No doors. Through-entrance at centre. Roof construction has original tie-beams with renewed queen-struts. Plank door on each gable end. Shelter Shed 20 metres south of barn, uses the yard wall as its back wall, and has rounded corner. Five round oak posts support, front of shed with a scarfed plate, four square posts inside, half way to back wall. Thatch roof. Attached rubble- stone walls with vertical coping-stones, join barn to shelter shed, entrance to yard, then wall curves back to form west side of yard and returns to barn, west gable.
