Description
The Knapp is a detached cottage that dates back to the 17th century, with an extension added in the 18th century. It has an L-shaped plan and features dressed and rubble-stone walls. The cottage is topped with a thatch roof, which has stone gable-coping at the east gable, and includes brick stacks at the south and east gables. The building is 1½ storeys high and has two windows in the south range and two in the east range's south elevation. The latter range retains stone mullion windows, including a three-light window with a separate label and a two-light window with metal casements on the gable end. There is a 17th-century doorway located at the angle of the two ranges, featuring a depressed-arch head, and it has a 20th-century plank-and-muntin door. The north wing is constructed with rubble-stone walls and has an asbestos slate roof, along with a 20th-century stone stack at the gable end.
