Description

Tudor House is a detached house that was originally three cottages, built in the mid 17th century. It was extended to the south in the 18th century and at the north end in the 19th century. The structure features squared rubble-stone walls made from a mix of Portesham and Abbotsbury stone. The roof is covered with plain clay tiles, hipped on the left side and gabled on the right. There is a stone stack set slightly in from the left hip of the roof.

The house has two storeys and five windows on the ground floor. These include a two-light stone mullion window and a three-light stone mullion window with an ovolo profile, both featuring separate labels above. The windows have fixed diamond-leaded lights and a central wooden casement from the 17th century. On the first floor, there are five windows: two two-light, one four-light, and two more two-light wooden casements from the 20th century, also with diamond-leaded lights.

The doorways include a left-hand entrance with an 18th-century stone architrave and a 20th-century plank-and-muntin door. The center doorway is a blocked 17th-century entrance with moulded jambs and a depressed-arch head. To the right, there is a plank-and-muntin door with a segmental arch-head from the 19th century.

Inside, there is a reset fireplace in the former right-hand gable that has a fake date of 1564. The stairs are located beside this fireplace. In the south end of the house, there is a large open fireplace with straight-chamfered jambs and a wooden lintel above.
