Description

The War Memorial in Bradford Abbas was built in 1917. It features ashlar stone sides topped with a steep stone slate roof that has intersecting arched bracing. The memorial includes a stepped recess and a framed area with pilasters, bases, and carved capitals adorned with wheatsheaves. The tympanum area is decorated with a carved sunset and clouds. There are slate tablets listing the names of the fallen and those who served, along with a capital letter inscription that reads, "Greater love hath no man than this. That a man lay down his life for his friends." The front walls display carved arms of St George.
