Description
Church Hill consists of three cottages arranged in a terrace, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. The cottages feature plastered cob walls and thatched roofs. No. 1, located at the left end, has roughcast walls and a brick stack on the right side. It is one storey with an attic, featuring a 20th-century part-glazed door, one 20th-century casement window with glazing bars on the ground floor, and a dormer in the attic with similar casements.
No. 2, which may have originally been two cottages, has one brick stack at the right end and another to the left of the center. This cottage is two storeys high, with a 20th-century part-glazed door. The ground floor has two timber and two metal 20th-century casements, while the first floor has one timber and two metal 20th-century casements. The central ground floor room contains a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and an exposed ceiling beam.
No. 3, at the right end, is also two storeys tall and has a 20th-century ledged door. Both the ground and first floors have two 20th-century casements each. There is a single-storey extension at the right end with a pantile roof and one 20th-century casement. The ground floor room on the right features a large open fireplace with a timber lintel. Alterations were in progress at the time of the survey in May 1986. The cottages are included for their group value despite the alterations to the windows.
