Description

An 18th-century former watermill, later converted into a house, is situated on Southover Lane in Tolpuddle. The building is constructed of brick, with some burnt headers visible. It features a tiled mansard roof, half-hipped at the right end, and extends over two storeys and an attic. A brick porch with a slate gabled roof shelters a stable door. On the ground floor are two casement windows with glazing bars, while the first floor has two similar windows and one large fixed window with glazing bars. A dormer window is located in the attic. The front wall projects slightly towards the right end, and a single-storey addition, containing a stable door and two casement windows with glazing bars, is situated at the left end. A mill race runs beneath the building. Below the ground floor, hatches survive, along with one upper horizontal wheel.
