Description

This is a group of three cottages, numbers 22, 23, and 24, built around 1920 in Bladen Valley. The cottages are arranged symmetrically as a terrace. They have walls constructed of concrete block, thatched roofs, and brick stacks. Each cottage is one storey high with attics. The ends of the terrace slightly project, with the thatch carried down over them, and the central section is also slightly projected. Number 22, the northern cottage, has a modern panelled door set within a partly-infilled porch with a semi-circular tiled arch. It has two casement windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, one similar window on the first floor, and a dormer window in the projecting section, all with casements. Number 23, the central cottage, has a panelled door in a recessed porch, two casement windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, and three dormer windows in the attic, all with similar casements. Number 24, the southern cottage, is similar to number 22, but the porch is not infilled. A later single-storey extension, with rendered walls and a part-tiled roof, has been added to the south side of number 24.
