Description
This barn, located 20 metres east of Childhay Manor Farmhouse, dates from the 16th century or possibly later. It features ashlar lias stone walls set on a hard limestone base, with a chamfered plinth. The stone gable copings have moulded apex blocks, and the barn is topped with a slate roof. The gable walls are constructed in fine graduated courses of stone and include chamfered loops in both the east and west gables. There are two sets of through-doors, which have straight-chamfered jambs and carved wooden lintels in a Tudor-arch style. Inside, the roof construction consists of raised jointed crucks with collar beams, three sets of slightly chamfered through-purlins, and a diagonal ridge.
