Description
This large barn, located approximately 20 metres west of Manor Farmhouse, dates from the late 16th century and may have originally served as a stable block. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and features a Collyweston stone slate roof with coped gables. The barn was originally two storeys, but the floor has mostly been removed to create a spacious barn area.
The gable end of the barn has two three-light hollow-chamfered stone mullioned windows with round-headed lights and hood moulds. The sides of the barn contain two- and three-light stone mullioned windows, as well as some boarded openings with wooden lintels. There are plain board doors with wooden lintels and several blocked doorways.
Inside, the roof trusses are arch-braced to the tie beam, with queen struts to the collar and wind-braces, although these have been modified. The barn consists of four bays, and there are blocked doorways leading to a floored section on both levels. The wall plaster inside features graffiti, including circular patterns.
