Description
Gainsborough Dairy is a detached dairy-house dating from the 17th century, or possibly earlier, with alterations from the 18th century. It features rubble-stone walls with dressed-stone quoins and a thatched roof with stone-slate eaves and gable ends. There are brick stacks located at the south end of the ridge and at the center of the ridge. The building is 1½ storeys high and has 2 to 3 windows with irregular arrangements. The east elevation includes a 3-light wooden casement and two-leaf plank doors with a wooden lintel above, which are from the 19th century. There is an outshut towards the right end, covered with a tile roof and featuring 2-light wooden casements. A plank door in the angle provides access to the outshut, which also has a pent-roofed porch above.
