Description

Teacher's Cottage is a detached cottage from the early 19th century located on Church Street in Upwey, Weymouth. The front of the building is rendered, while the gables are made of coursed squared stone, and the back is constructed from rubble with brick stacks. The roof is slate. This small house is oriented gable to the road and faces The School, serving as the teacher's dwelling.

The cottage is two storeys high and features two windows. The windows are three-light small-pane wood casements with four-centre heads, set beneath dropped label courses on the ground floor. There is a central panelled, part-glazed 19th-century door, which is sheltered by a gabled hood with decorative barge-boarding supported by brackets. The gable end facing the street has a small plinth. The back of the cottage has three windows with various two-light casements and a stable-type door on the right. The inner gable has an attached one-storey lean-to, which includes a plank door at the front and another door at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
