Rempstone Farm Buildings

Rempstone Farm Buildings is a group of farm buildings arranged around a courtyard, dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. The walls are primarily made of rubble stone, and the roofs are tiled with stone eaves courses. The main barn, which forms the west range, features two pairs of opposed cart entrances topped with hipped roofs. Inside, it has a simple tie-beam roof spanning 10 bays. The south range serves as an open shelter shed, where the original supporting posts have been replaced with steel stanchions and features a queen post roof. The north range contains stables or cowsheds, equipped with stable doors and slatted windows, and includes one hipped dormer for the hayloft. This range has been extended to the east with brick. The east ranges have been partially rebuilt using concrete block and have stone slate roofs. There are also various 20th-century lean-to extensions within the courtyard.
