Description

CORFE CASTLE REMPSTONE SY 98 SE 3/114 Rempstone Farm Buildings - II Group of farm buildings round a courtyard. Late C18 - early C19. Walls mainly of rubble stone. Tiled roofs with stone eaves courses. Main barn, forming west range, has 2 pairs of opposed cart entrances with hipped roofs. Simple tie-beam roof, of 10 bays. South range, an open shelter shed, the supporting posts replaced with steel stanchions. Queen post roof. North range, stables or cowsheds, with stable doors and slatted windows. One hipped dormer to hayloft. This range extended to east in brick. East ranges, part rebuilt in concrete block, have stone slate roofs. Various C20 lean-to extensions within courtyard.
