Description

A range of farm buildings forming a courtyard, dating to the late 19th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with plain tiled roofs, some of which have been renewed with concrete tiles. The right-hand range was originally stabling, distinguished by cambered heads to the doors and windows, and a coped gable which corbels out and features a bullseye window in the apex. The left-hand range has a taller gable with an external loading door, and serves as a cart shed with a store above. This cart shed is characterized by square brick piers forming four bays, with chamfered lintels. A cross range and a slightly later parallel range, used as cowsheds and other spaces, are present. The infill range has three sets of double doors. Inside the rear range, slim turned posts provide light support to the principal roof trusses. The end ranges are linked across the front of the yard by a brick wall with stone copings that curve up to central piers, topped with ball finials.
