Description
Coton Priory Farmhouse is a house with origins in the 16th century, which was restored around 1905. It features a timber frame with brick nogging, some of which is laid in herringbone courses, set on limestone plinths, with some brickwork renewed. The roof is plain tiled. The main range consists of three bays with a cross wing to the left and a central jettied full-height gabled porch. To the left of the porch is a canted bay window, while the other windows are 2-light casements with leaded panes, grouped in pairs. The upper windows are also 2-light casements located beneath gabled dormers. The framing is arranged in square panels, with some decorative elements primarily in the porch and the left-hand wing. The side wall of the wing features tall narrow panels. There is a deep outshut to the rear, and gable and axial stacks are present. The farmhouse is located on the periphery of the site of the deserted medieval village of Coton and its chapel, although its own origins remain unclear.
