Description

Westhaven Court is a row of four houses, originally built as a workhouse in 1836. The building is constructed of brick, with a roof of Swithland slate. It is two storeys high and comprises nine bays, arranged as three bays, three bays, and three bays, with the central three bays projecting and topped with a pedimented gable. Doorways are located at the inner edges of the outer bays. All the windows are 12-pane sashes with flat, splayed heads, and there is a painted sill band. To the left is a taller, single-storey block that was formerly the Board Room, added in the 19th century. This addition is of brick with stone dressings. Buttresses are present, divided into three bays, though the windows only occupy the lower sections of their embrasures. There is a modillion eaves cornice and dormer windows. A slatted wooden cupola sits atop the roof. A door within a canted bay provides a link to the main block.
