Description
The Post Office and Stores, located at No. 21 Evershot Fore Street, is a shop and attached house dating from the early 19th century. It features brick walls constructed in Flemish bond and a slate roof with stone gable copings. There is a 20th-century brick stack on the left gable. The building is two storeys tall and has four windows on the first floor, which are sash windows with glazing bars, gauged brick voussoirs, and stone cills.
The shop front on the left side of the ground floor has two segmental bay windows with short canted sides, featuring fixed windows with full wood glazing bars, pilaster framing, a continuous frieze, and a moulded cornice above. At the centre of the shop front is a two-leaf glass-panelled door. To the right of centre, there is a six-panelled front door with a fanlight that includes glazing bars, dating from the 19th century, framed by a round-headed arch surround with gauged brickwork.
