Description

This is a mid-19th century shop with living accommodation above, located on the north side of High Street, Crediton. The building is constructed of Flemish bond brick, with a slate roof and a left-hand brick stack featuring a corbelled brick shaft. The design incorporates a double-depth plan and a cartway to the right.

The two-bay front has deep eaves supported by paired, moulded brackets, and a band of cream brick that runs across the first-floor window lintels. There are two four-pane hornless sash windows to the second floor and two to the first floor. The cartway arch has a segmental head with a plain stuccoed arch. A shop door, originally alongside the cartway, has been converted into a window, and features a segmental-headed arch with foliage carved into the spandrels. A late 19th or early 20th century shop front is present on the left, characterized by panelled pilasters with paired brackets, an entablature, a three-pane shop window with moulded mullions, and a 20th-century glazed door with a deep overlight. The interior has not been inspected, but may contain features of interest.
