Description
Lindsell Chairs is a house and shops dating from the early 19th century. It is built of painted brick, likely gault, in Flemish bond and has a slate roof. The building is almost rectangular and faces northwest, featuring one internal stack at the left end and one axial stack to the left of center, both made of gault brick. There is a 2-storey wing at the rear and the building stands three storeys tall.
On the ground floor, there are two early 19th-century shopfronts beneath a joint fascia that spans the entire elevation. The smaller shop on the left has a window with three lights, alongside a flush five-panel door with a plain overlight, panelled jambs, and soffit. The larger shop features two windows, each with four lights, and a splayed central entrance with double glazed doors and a plain overlight. The façade is adorned with six simple pilasters and a moulded cornice above the fascia, which includes a band of egg-and-dart carving.
The first floor has five original sash windows, each with twelve lights and crown glass, set beneath shallow segmental-flat arches. The second floor also has five similar sash windows, but they are more squat in proportion. The hipped roof has a shallow pitch and long overhanging eaves.
