Captain's Cottage is an early 19th-century cottage located on the north side of East Street in Coggeshall. It is timber framed, weatherboarded, and plastered, with a roof made of handmade red plain tiles. The cottage has a single range that faces south, featuring a stack at the rear right corner. There is a 20th-century single-storey extension with a flat roof at the rear right. The building stands two storeys high. On the ground floor, there is one sash window with 16 lights, while the first floor has two 20th-century casement windows. A 20th-century half-glazed door and 19th-century double vehicle doors provide access to a passage. The left side of the cottage is plastered, and the rear elevation is weatherboarded, showcasing two early 19th-century casement windows with six lights and much crown glass on the first floor.
