Description
This is an early 19th-century house, later used as a shop. It is located on Market Hill in Coggeshall, with an elevation facing both Market Hill and East Street. The house has a rectangular plan and a slate roof. It was altered in the 20th century. The exterior is plastered, and it features an internal brick stack.
The late 19th-century corner shopfront has been altered in the 20th century, featuring a panelled base, and a partly-glazed door with an overlight featuring marginal glazing. Above the shopfront, on the Market Hill elevation, is a sash window with 16 lights. The East Street elevation has similar sash windows with crown glass on each floor, along with a six-panel door with a plain overlight, a simple doorcase, a shallow moulded canopy, and one stone step. The roof is hipped. The building is included in the listing due to its group value.
