Description
This building, located at 1 High Street in Bradninch, is a house with a shop dating from the early 1830s, featuring a late 19th-century shop front. It has a plastered exterior, likely made of cob, and is topped with a gabled-end slate roof. The ground floor is dedicated to the shop, which includes storage at the rear, while the living accommodation is situated above. The building stands three storeys tall.
The front of the shop features two plate-glass windows with an entrance in between, which is flanked by incised pilasters. A moulded cornice runs across the entire width of the shop front, including a panelled door leading to the upper accommodation on the right, supported by console brackets. The upper floors each have two windows fitted with hornless sashes. A gutter box is supported by shaped brackets, and there is stone coping on the gable ends. To the left, there is a small end stack with a brick shaft. This building occupies a central location in Bradninch Town and is part of a row of listed houses.
