Description
18 Fore Street is an early 19th-century house that features a shopfront added in the late 19th or early 20th century. The building is constructed from cob and stone, which has been rendered, and the pitched roof is covered with slate tiles.
The exterior presents a two-storey, two-bay symmetrical front with a deep eaves cornice. The ground-floor shopfront includes a recessed entrance door with a transom light above and plate-glass display windows on either side. Inside the lobby entrance, there is a mosaic-tiled floor. The shopfront is enhanced by panelled pilasters that support the fascia above. On the first floor, there are two six-over-six hornless sash windows set within moulded architraves. At the left end of the building, there is a chimney stack with a rendered brick shaft.
