Description
Sydgate House is a house built in the late 18th century, featuring a mid-19th century shopfront. It is constructed from squared stone with tooled and painted dressings, and has a wooden shopfront. The roof is made of Welsh slate, with a left chimney stack heightened in yellow brick and a new brick chimney stack on the right. The building has two storeys and three slightly irregular bays. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door set in a moulded surround, topped with a pulvinated frieze and a cornice supported by consoles. To the left, the shop window has three arched panes separated by colonettes and is adorned with a moulded cornice on consoles and brackets. The other windows are four-pane sashes within raised stone surrounds. The left gable is coped and features a moulded kneeler, with chimney stacks at both ends.
