Description

The Market Cross, dated 1814, is located in Corbridge Market Place. It is made of cast iron and stands on a squared stone plinth. There are four circular steps leading up to a square chamfered plinth that supports a cast block base. The base features an inscription that reads "HUGH PERCY/DUKE OF/NORTHUMBERLAND/ANNO/MDCCCXIIII" on the north side, with a lion, a lion on a crown, and the Percy crescent depicted on the other sides. Above this is a quatrefoil shaft with a stepped foot, three moulded rings, and a moulded cap topped with a plain cross.
