Description
The lych gate to the churchyard, built in 1919 as a memorial for World War I, is constructed from squared tooled stone with ashlar quoins and dressings, topped with a Westmorland slate roof. It features a four-centred arch made up of two hollow-chamfered orders within a square frame, adorned with heraldry and oak foliage in the spandrels. The gate is supported by flanking buttresses with battered bases, which rise to a hollow-chamfered eaves cornice that steps up over an inscribed tablet above the arch.
The lych gate includes open-panelled wooden gates that display the Greek letters alpha and omega on the stiles. The rear has an open timbered gable with vertical studding.
