Description
This is an early 18th-century house, altered around 1970, located on Front Street, Corbridge. The building is constructed of roughly-shaped quoins and coursed rubble with dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof with old brick stacks. It is three storeys high and two bays wide. The central entrance features 20th-century double doors set within an opening, with a cemented lintel and reused jambs. Flanking the entrance are paired 15-pane sash windows under similar lintels. Above, there are 16-pane sash windows, one of which has been altered to a casement, all with tooled lintels and slightly-projecting sills. The second floor contains a pair of 12-pane Yorkshire sashes centrally placed. The building has raised gable coping and banded end stacks. The returns show reverse-stepped gables. A broad, contemporary rear wing with ridge and end stacks extends to the rear.
Inside, a fragment of a medieval cross slab, featuring shears, is built into the internal east wall. The roof has a collar-beam truss structure, though the collars themselves have been removed. A single-storey, 20th-century extension to the right is not considered to be of particular interest.
