Description
No. 1 Millway is a house that forms part of a row, built in the early 1830s. It is constructed of cob with a stone plinth, plastered, and has a slate roof featuring crested ridge tiles. The house has a left-hand axial stack and a rear wing with an axial stack, both topped with brick chimneys. It is two storeys high.
The front of the house is a symmetrical range with five bays. The left-hand bay contains a wagon entrance set at an angle, aligning with nos. 7-11 Millway. All windows are hornless 8-pane sashes, with some still featuring crown glass. The central doorway is topped by an open pediment and has an architrave, with the door and reveals displaying fielded panels. No. 1 Millway is situated at an important location in the town centre of Bradninch, at the junction of Millway, Fore Street, and High Street.
