Description
Casanova's Chocolate House is a house that has been converted into a restaurant and flat. It dates from the 18th century and was altered in the 19th century. The building is timber framed and plastered, with a roof that is concealed by a parapet. It has a rectangular plan facing northwest and features an internal stack on the right side. The structure stands three storeys tall.
On the ground floor, there is a full-length 19th-century shopfront that includes recessed glazed double doors with one stone step. The shopfront is supported by four heavy brackets that are intricately carved with scrolls, lion's heads, and foliage, along with a fascia. To the left, there is a four-panel door with a plain overlight, as well as panelled jambs and soffit. The upper floors feature a three-window range of late 18th-century sashes, each with 12 lights. The building is topped with a dentilled and moulded cornice and a plain parapet. Inside, there are boxed transverse and axial beams.
