Description
Iles Cottages are a pair of semi-detached cottages located on Village Street in Leigh. No. 1 is dated 1727, while No. 2 is dated 1775. The cottages feature coursed rubble stone walls and slate roofs with stone eaves courses and coped gables, along with brick stacks at the ends and center. They are two storeys high.
No. 1 has a 20th-century part-glazed door, and both the ground and first floors each have two casement windows with horizontal glazing bars. Inside, the ground floor includes two large open fireplaces with timber lintels and some chamfered ceiling beams.
No. 2 has a part-glazed panelled door. The ground floor features two 20th-century cross-pattern windows, while the first floor has two casement windows with a central glazing bar. Internally, the ground floor room also has a large open fireplace with a timber lintel.
