Description
22 and 24 Newland Street are two cottages located in Eynsham, dating from the mid to late 18th century. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a gabled stone slate roof and feature a brick ridge stack. The cottages have a two- and one-unit plan, standing two storeys tall with a three-window range.
No. 22 has timber lintels above a 20th-century door and two-light casements, while No. 24 also has timber lintels over a 20th-century door, but features 19th-century two- and three-light casements. There is an unusual recess set in the rear wall of the building, along with a 20th-century rear extension.
Inside No. 22, there is a chamfered beam, an 18th-century fireplace, and quarter-turn stairs. The interior of No. 24 was not inspected.
