Description

The Haven is a house, likely dating to the early to mid-18th century, which incorporates earlier fabric. It is constructed of roughly-coursed limestone rubble with squared stones defining the raised eaves, and has a gabled roof covered in stone slate. Rendered stacks mark the ends. The house has a two-unit plan, with a central staircase. A 20th-century timber lintel sits above the front door, which also features a 20th-century hood, and there are 20th-century timber lintels over the casement windows. A Sun Alliance insurance plaque is positioned over the door. A three-light leaded casement window is located at the rear. To the right of the main house is a former 18th-century stable and granary, now integrated into the dwelling. It is built of matching materials, with a brick rear lateral stack. The granary gable wall features ventilation slits and a door. Inside, the house features chamfered and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. There is an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer to the left, next to winder stairs. The roof is supported by collar trusses with butt purlins.
