Description
Nos. 35 and 37 East Street are a pair of cottages that date back to 1781, as indicated by the date stone above the door of No. 37, which originally served as a common entrance for both cottages. The cottages feature rubble stone walls and stone slate roofs, with brick stacks at each end. They are two storeys tall with attics.
No. 35, located on the left, has a part-glazed door set in what was originally a window opening. The ground floor includes one casement window with horizontal glazing bars beneath a flat arch. The first floor has two similar casement windows, but these do not have arches.
No. 37 also has a part-glazed door. Its ground floor features two casement windows with a central horizontal glazing bar, both under flat arches. The first floor has two sash windows, each with a central glazing bar. Each cottage includes one hipped dormer with casements that have a central horizontal glazing bar.
