Description
The William Every monument is a headstone located approximately 10 meters south of the Church of St Laurence in Weymouth. Dated 1720, it is made of Portland stone and features a thick slab with a double arched head. The headstone has a sunk oval panel beneath two smaller ovals. The inscription, presented entirely in capital letters, reads, "Joan, the wife of William Every decesde this life the 2 day of February in 1720." The design and style of the lettering suggest that it may have been created by a mason who was influenced by earlier styles.
