Description

Birds Cottage is a single cottage, originally two dwellings, dating to the mid-18th century. The walls are of rubble stone, which have been washed and rendered. It has a slate roof with gable ends. There are two rendered stacks, one in the centre of what was the left-hand cottage and another at the rear eaves. The cottage is one and a half storeys high with four windows, each with wooden casements and glazing bars. The ground floor windows have segmental window heads. A 20th-century front door and porch have been added, and there is a plank wooden door on the left-hand side. One gable end faces the lane and features an attic window. It forms a matching pair with The Shieling.
