Description

  1. 5193 PAMPHILL COWGROVE ROAD (OFF) (North Side) Walnut Farmhouse ST 90 SE 3/82 21.12.82 II GV 2. C17. Timber framed walls with brick infil. Front wall rebuilt or refaced in brick, probably in C18. West gable wall clad in asbestos slates. Thatched roof. Central brick stack with two diagonally set shafts and moulded cap. Two-room lobby entrance plan - original doorway blocked and entrance now at east end of house. At west end are remains of a timber framed structure - apparently an addition to the house - the upper storey now demolished. Two storeys. At east end, a single storey extension with plastered walls and tiled roof. Main elevation, now of brick, has, on ground floor, two casement windows with glazing bars. Similar windows in east extension and two on first floor. Central window at mezzamine level, lighting inserted stair. Rear wall timber framed. Blocked doorway with four-centred arched head. Shaped moulded head of former oriel window in western first floor room. Ground floor rooms have deep chamfered ceiling beams. Fireplaces now built up. Moulded plaster panels survive, under wallpaper, on chimney breast in one first floor room RCHM Monument 66.
