Description
Holly Farmhouse is a building with probable origins in the 16th century, which was enlarged in the 17th century. It features timber-framed walls with brick infill, although the south gable wall has been rebuilt in modern brick. The house has a thatched roof and a brick stack, and it is one storey with attics. Originally, it was a small open-hall house with a cross-passage located in the service room at the south end. In the 17th century, a large chimney stack was added to the service room, along with two additional rooms, creating a three-room lobby entrance plan. The main elevation includes a ledged door, and the ground floor has two casement windows with glazing bars. The attic features three dormers with similar casements. Inside, there are deeply chamfered ceiling beams in the hall, parlour, and kitchen, as well as an inserted plant and muntin partition at the rear of the hall that leads to the kitchen. The hall and parlour each have large open fireplaces, which are partially built up. The upper part of a circular curving chamber remains in the room above the parlour.
