Description
Giant View is a former Union Workhouse, now converted into private flats, built in 1836 and 1841. The building features rendered walls and hipped slate roofs, with brick stacks on two projecting wings and the front range. It has a cross-plan layout with outhouses at the ends of the front range. The structure is three storeys high and has four windows on the front and street sides, which are fitted with two-light cast-iron casements and wooden sills. There is a central doorway that is two-leaf and panelled, dating from the 19th century. The north and south wings are also three storeys tall and each has five windows. At the rear, there is a wing along with two outbuildings at the front, constructed of rubble-stone, painted, and topped with hipped slate roofs.
