Description
Barton Lodge is a mid-19th century villa located within the grounds of a larger estate. The main block is constructed of stuccoed walls, painted, with a brick first-floor string course. It has a low-pitched, hipped slate roof with boxed eaves, and two rendered stacks on the ridge. The east-facing entrance front has two and a half storeys and a half-basement. It features two windows, which are good 19th-century sash windows with glazing-bars; the windows extend down to the plinth at ground floor level. A central oculus with radiating glazing-bars is positioned above the windows. A square, flat-roofed porch with a pair of 20th-century glazed doors sits at the centre of the entrance front. To the right of the porch is a brick and flint extension. The south front has 20-pane sash windows on the ground floor and 16-pane sash windows on the first floor, as well as two small hipped dormers. The west front features a two-storey square bay window, which was likely added later. Inside, the villa contains a 19th-century staircase with slide balustrades, and window shutters.
