Description

Fisherman's Cottage is a small house in a row, originally designed as two separate dwellings, dating from the early 19th century. It is located on Brandy Lane, Chesil, Portland. The exterior is painted coursed and squared block with a slate roof. The house has two storeys and two window bays. It features 16-pane sash windows with stone lintols. A 20th-century door is positioned to the right of each window bay. A central brick ridge stack is present. The interior has not been inspected. A projecting corbel is located at the left end, midway up the elevation. This may have served as a kneeler for a lower roof of a previous building, as the row is thought to have been constructed or rebuilt following the destruction caused by the great storm of 1824.
