Description
Nos. 82 and 84 High Street are two cottages that were originally a single house, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. The building features rubble stone walls and stone slate roofs, with brick stacks at both ends and in the center. It stands two stories tall with an attic, and there is a gabled stone porch that serves both cottages.
No. 82 has two sash windows with vertical glazing bars on each floor, while No. 84 has one similar window on each floor and a hipped dormer with casements. At the left end of No. 84, there is a projecting stone extension with a stone slate roof.
Inside, the main ground floor room of No. 82, which was once two separate rooms, includes a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and a bread oven, as well as a smaller corner fireplace. At the time of the survey in 1984, this house was undergoing repairs and a rear wing was under construction. In No. 84, the main ground floor room also features a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and a bread oven.
