Description

This 19th-century churchyard wall and railings form part of the boundary of the churchyard. The wall is constructed of stone rubble with a coping along its top. It extends from an entrance point at the north end of the churchyard, rising in height along Church Street until it reaches the south end, where it adjoins the Infant's School. The railings have uprights that rise to two different heights, alternating with fleur-de-lys and spear-headed finials. Stone piers with peaked capping flank the entry at the north end, along with a gate. The churchyard wall and railings are historically linked as a group with the Parish Church of St Michael, the Infant's School (numbers 46 to 57 inclusive), and contribute to the view from the west along Monmouth Street, alongside the church’s boundary walls and railings at numbers 7 to 9.
