Description
The gates, railings, and wall form the boundary to the churchyard of the Church of St. Michael. The cast iron gates and railings were installed in the 19th century by the Rogers family. They are set into a dwarf wall made of coursed squared and dressed limestone, while a short section of coursed squared and dressed limestone wall is located on the north-west side of the churchyard. The wall dates from the 17th to 18th century. The railings are integrated into a coped dwarf wall that features buttresses on the churchyard side, which support cast iron braces connected to standards with urn finials placed at intervals of 2.5 meters. A single gate on the east side of the churchyard displays a heraldic shield of the Rogers family along with the motto 'VIGILA ET ORA'. There are also double gates with a single gate next to them at the north-west corner, which originally had another heraldic shield of the Rogers family, now missing. The stone wall extends south from the double gates for approximately 25 meters and is capped with pyramidal stones.
